The American Supercar Challenge race at Cecil County Dragway on May 20, 2006 had a very special “SuperCar Race War” driving competition. This Vette versus Viper “Race War” was a grudge match race that was arranged by two of the best Corvette and Viper supercar drivers who decided to test their skills at an American Supercar Challenge race. What makes this race very interesting is that both drivers have a lot of respect for each others driving skills, which is what this race was all about "DRIVING SKILLS".

The two Supercar drivers raced 3 races against each other to better determine who could deliver the best performance in the driving department.

At the end of the day both drivers delivered really incredible performances. The Viper driver, Tom known as “WANTED”, ran an 11.7 second ET with a stock 2001 Viper RT/10 which is approximately 1/2 second faster than what that model Viper normally runs.

The Corvette driver, John who is known as “RANGER”, set a record for a 2006 Z06 Corvette by producing an incredible 11.20 second ET at 127.55 mph with a stock LS7 engine in his 2006 Z06 Corvette by using drag radial tires.

Both drivers proceeded to prove that they have exceptional driving skills and clearly demonstrated how important driving abilities are for delivering great super car performances.

“Ranger” Z06 Vette Video

The well-known Z06 Corvette driving expert and multiple Corvette performance records holder known as “RANGER” attended this American Supercar Challenge race with his new 2006 Z06 Corvette. Ranger had two performance objectives to conquer; the first goal was to win the American Supercar Challenge “Race War” competition against his friend and Viper race rival, known as “WANTED”. Ranger’s second goal was to set a new drag strip quarter mile performance record for a 2006 Z06 Corvette.

At the end of the day, “RANGER,” demonstrated that he is an expert Corvette driver by setting a record for a 2006 Z06 Corvette and producing an incredible 11.20 second ET at 127.55 mph with the stock LS7 engine in his 2006 Z06 Corvette and the use of D.O.T drag radial tires. Ranger also delivered 11.31 second elapsed times with stock rear tires.

Ranger recognizes that superior super car performance depends on both man and machine which is why he specializes in developing his driving skills for the Z06 Corvette. This video interview with “Ranger” was conducted directly after his record performance at the American Supercar Challenge where he methodically explains the details of how he is able to set another Z06 Corvette performance record with the application of effective driving skills. This is a how to video interview with a master driving technician.

Drag Race Time Ticket

This drag race time slip has some remarkable numbers with “Ranger” and his Z06 Corvette in the left lane running the quarter mile in 11.20 seconds at 127.55 MPH, which on May 20, 2006 was a record performance for a 2006 Z06 Corvette.

In the right lane are “Wanted” and his Viper RT/10 with a .001 reaction time, which is what drag racers dream about doing at the lights. The reality is that Tom is actually able to generate these very low reaction times on a regular basis.

This time ticket tells the tale that these super car drivers clearly have super drag racing driving abilities with incredible performances being recorded in both lanes.

“Wanted” Viper Video

Viper driving expert, “WANTED” demonstrated some amazing drag racing driving skills by delivering an incredible .001 reaction time with the Vipers manual six speed transmission. In case there was any consideration that this was just luck, there were several .0 reaction times with the first test pass resulting in a .031 reaction time.

These Viper drag racing skills are not just limited to reaction times, as Tom is able to run consistent 11.7 ET’s in the quarter mile with his Viper RT/10, which is approximately 1/2 second faster then what most good Viper drivers do.

This video interview with “WANTED” was conducted before the Race War began and after some preliminary test sessions. Since his reaction times were much better than “RANGERS” he is confident about their upcoming Race Wars during the interview.

At this American Supercar Challenge Race War event Tom (“Wanted”) clearly demonstrated that he has exceptional driving skills and that he is a very talented Viper Drag racing specialist.
